The exhibition Sur le vif: Tom Gibson and Sam Tata, which brought together photographs by Tom Gibson and Sam Tata made between 1948 and 1979, was conceived as a dialogue between two esthetics of Street Photography. The brochure essay addresses the evocative power of the subject presented as anonymous and locates the artistic practice of the two artists within the current debate on the right to privacy and its history.
