Discussion as part of SIGHTINGS 44: IDLE with Alexandre Bouffard and architects David Theodore and Thomas Balaban. The conversation will address the notion of pretense in architecture: how, often through images, architecture borrows the appearance of other places, doubles itself, or transforms. The discussants will explore the connections between Bouffard’s installation and Impostor Cities, a project developed for the 17th International Architecture Biennale in Venice in 2021 by Theodore and the Montreal-based architecture and design firm T B A, spearheaded by Thomas Balaban and Jennifer Thorogood.
This event marks the conclusion of Alexandre Bouffard’s SIGHTINGS project, on view on the ground floor of the Hall Building (1455 De Maisonneuve Blvd. West) until September 21, 2025.
