نحمل في أجسادنا أشلاء الماضي ، لا كقصص مكتملة، بل ذكريات متشظية : رائحة المطبخ، صوت الشارع ، ملمس وشاح الجدّة. هي ذاكرة الحواس التي تعلق بنا، حتى بعد مغادرة الأمكنة.
تدعو الورشة المشاركين بها للتنقيب بأناة عن الذكريات غير الحكائية ومحاولة توطينها، عبر إيجاد تفصيل “هنا” أو حتى اختراعه ليتصادى مع الذكرى.
بامكان المشتركين “حكاية” أو توطين ذكرياتهم عبر فيديو قصير، أو صورة فوتوغرافية، أو هايكو يسمح بفعل التوطين ذاك بشكله الجديد.
هذه الورشة هي جزء من برنامج تموضع “الآخر”، التواجد و المكان من تنسيق لين قديح
سيتم تقديم وجبة غداء نباتية مُعدّة من نيلوفار.
عبير داغر إسبِرBIO ABEER
وُلدت في دمشق، ثم في العام 2016 هاجرت إلى كيبيك. تعنى أعمالها البحثية والإبداعية بمفهوم الذاكرة ضمن سياق الهجرة، مستحضرة الذاكرة غير الروائية بوصفها مدخلاً للخلاص الفردي والجمعي. تشتغل داغر إسبِر على تفكيك المفردات العمرانية في المدن العربية: كالمعتقل، الوطن/البيت، الشارع، و أماكن العبادة، باعتبارها فضاءات تتقاطع فيها رمزية العنف مع البنية المدينيّة، ويحتدم فيها الصراع بين الفرد والمدينة، من دمشق إلى بيروت، وصولاً إلى مونتريال. كتبت داغر اسبر وأخرجت عدداً من الأفلام الروائية والوثائقية. لديها خمس روايات نالت اثنتان منها جوائز أدبية. كما نُشرت مقالاتها المعنية بالأدب والسينما في عدد من المنابر الثقافية العربية البارزة.

Pieces of the past live on in our bodies—memories that don’t always form full stories, but linger as fragments: the smell of a kitchen, the sound of a street, the texture of a grandmother’s shawl. Sensory impressions that accompany us long after we’ve left a place.
The workshop invites participants to gently unearth non-verbal recollections and attempt to situate them by finding or crafting something in their present surroundings that echoes the memory.
Participants will be guided by author and filmmaker Abeer Dagher Esber, to create a video, a photograph, or a haiku that relocates the memory, even in its altered form.

Born in Damascus, Abeer Dagher Esber immigrated to Quebec in 2016. Her work explores notions of memory in displacement and non-discursive remembrance as a possible way for redemption. Her writings deconstruct architectural lexicon such as the detention center, the house/home, the street and the place of worship as spaces of conflict between individuals and cities, from Damascus to Beirut, all the way to Montreal. Dagher Esber wrote and directed several fiction and documentary features. She has published five novels, two of which won national awards, and her articles on literature and cinema have been widely published in major Arab outlets.

Othered Cartographies: On Place and Presence is a multi-part public program that engages with the layered meanings, complexities, and transformative possibilities of diasporas in Montreal—a city shaped by histories of colonization, migration, and overlapping trajectories and cultural lineages. The program seeks to nurture spaces and resources informed by the lived experiences and knowledge of communities often left at the edges of institutional narratives.
This project builds on a legacy of past public programming at the Gallery—one that has long embraced critical, community-responsive approaches to knowledge-sharing and cultural work. Undertaken by artist – researcher Lynn Kodeih, the project continues this trajectory, deepening the Gallery’s commitment to practices that listen closely and act collectively.
